Karen is a Clinical Hypnotherapy Practitioner who was amongst the first class of students to qualify from the Scottish School of Hypnotherapy
(www.learn-hypnosis.co.uk).

She is also a practitioner in Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP), learning her skills from John Carey a licensed trainer directly for Dr. Richard Bandler the co-founder of NLP.

Karen is a member of the General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR), The National Society of Professional Hypnotherpists (NSPH), The British Institute of NLP and The Society of Neuro-Linguistic Programming.

Before arriving at the steps of hypnotherapy Karen was a Police Officer in Northern Ireland working closely with Military personnel. As a result of this she has an interest in the treatment of stress, depression, anxiety and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

“Hypnotherapy as a possible career came to me in what I like to call ‘the light bulb moment’. Suddenly everything became clear and I just knew that this was the path both as a career and for my own self-development that I must travel along, so I took that first step. I have never looked back. The total and utter sense of achievement that I feel every time I help a client to realize their own potential and enable them to move forward into the life they desire and deserve is second to none”.

I offer a sensitive and professional approach to help resolve psychological and emotional concerns, fears and phobias, unwanted habits, sleep problems, anxiety, grief, depression, stress, lack of motivation, pain management, sexual difficulties and issues directly related to relationships, self-esteem, weight and obstetrics (birthing).

These are just a few of the areas, which can be successfully addressed, however please feel free to contact me in complete confidence to discuss your individual needs.

For me hypnotherapy is not about 8-12 sessions spread out across weeks or months. Hypnotherapy is such a powerful tool which can get straight to the root cause of an issue or problem and so in my experience my clients need only one or possibly two sessions of therapy.

My initial consultation is free and lasts approximately 60 minutes in duration.

You are under no obligation to continue onto
a tailored session of Hypnotherapy.

How do I know I can be hypnotized?

The theory is, that adults with an IQ of below 40 or have a severe mental illness cannot be hypnotized. This is not a definite. In my opinion anyone can be hypnotized if the conditions are right and the therapist has the appropriate skills. Two of these conditions being trust in the therapists and a willingness to succeed.

You won’t make me do any thing silly?

As a Professional Clinical Hypnotherapy Practitioner I am governed by codes of practice and ethics. I would neither wish to nor indeed make you ‘do any thing silly’. You are always in control and if I suggested something you disagreed with, you simply would not do it.

Is it safe?

Totally safe. In fact Hypnotherapy is an excellent drug free, natural form of treatment.

Will I remember it?

You will remember as much or as little as you ‘choose’ to remember of the session. Your subconscious mind will always protect you and so only allow you to remember what you are able to deal with at this time.

What if I don’t wake up?

You will always be able to wake up. Hypnosis is not like a natural sleep; it is more akin to daydreaming. So you are detached, but still aware of what is going on around you.

Will I tell you stuff I don’t want to tell you?

I am bound by client confidentiality and as your therapist you must have complete trust in me. You will only tell me what I need to know to help you move forward.

Is hypnosis the same as hypnotherapy?

No. Hypnosis is the naturally altered state of
the mind and Hypnotherapy is the therapeutic method used in a clinical setting to access that altered state for therapeutic benefit.
